Indiana jones raiders of the lost ark opening scene analysis.

The first shot in the scene is of Indiana Jones, the main character of the film. We can tell that he is the main character because he is the focus of the camera in the scene. This is shown through the many different camera shots of him and the fact that he has more screen time than the other person. One example of a camera shot that shows that he is the main character is at the beginning when they come around the corner. The other character continues to walk off screen, while he moves into the middle of the shot. He then walks towards the camera, revealing his face that was previously in the dark. He is also the only one of the two to survive. We learn nothing about the plot of the film from this opening scene. this is because it does not tell us anything about what is going on or where they are at this point in time. We do learn however that the main character, indiana jones is an intelligent person. This is because he tried to quickly swap out the golden idol for a bag of sand that he thought was of similar weight. This also shows that he is a professional as he knew that he would need to bring a bag of sand at a certain weight. This shows that he had done previous research. The music is used to build up suspense in the scene as he moves closer to the pedestal.  It does this by gradually becoming louder and more intense. The editing in the scene changes as we move through the scene. It starts off slow as the characters are moving slowly and there is no action. The editing becomes fast when they are running away because the place is collapsing. This is to make the scene more exciting and show more action.
